Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5039R

Combining two Patek Philippe signatures, the distinct hobnail bezel and the perfected perpetual calendar complication, the reference 5039 perfectly encapsulated 1990’s Patek Philippe in the best way possible. Often overlooked and far rarer than its reference 3940 predecessor, the 5039 is thought to have been produced in just 1,200 examples, with rose gold representing the lowest production at an estimated 300 pieces.

The caliber 240Q and dial layout mirror the 3940, however the watch features the architecturally distinctive stepped two-row hobnail bezel and elongated, defined, straight stately lugs. It’s a watch I never knew I wanted until I saw this very configuration in the wild and absolutely couldn’t stop admiring how beautifully it wore.

Case: The 35 x 41.5 x 8.5 mm rose gold case is in very nice, sharp and well-defined condition, appearing to be unpolished. Rose gold is the rarest metal produced in the reference and the signature ‘Clous de Paris’ hobnail bezel is in sharp, well-defined condition.

Dial: The silver dial largely mirrors a late second or third series reference 3940 with the Swiss Sigma signature at 6, serif calendar fonts, and cross hair for leap year indicator and broad sword hands.

Movement: Featuring the same, infamous caliber 240Q micro-rotor automatic winding movement as the 3940 on full display through the sapphire caseback.

Strap: The watch is presented on a rich brown signed alligator strap paired with its original rose gold deployant clasp, in equally wonderful condition.
