Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Day Date Moon Phase 25594ST
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Day Date Moon Phase 25594ST
Truly one of my absolute favorite Royal Oaks, the Day-Date Moon Phase reference 25594ST blends the perfect 36mm case size with added complication and a distinct white dial that absolutely sings in the porthole case. Nicknamed the “Owl” due to the large day and date registers sitting above the beaked opening for the moon phase, the dial is balanced, interesting, legible, distinct and retains the best Royal Oak characteristics like the petite tapisserie and old small font signature.
Case: The 36 x 46.5 x 9 mm stainless steel case is extremely thick, full, and even throughout and presents in excellent condition with all original bevels, chamfers, and edges prominently defined throughout. The integrated bracelet is in equally great condition with minimal stretch, a very crisp and tight clasp, and crisp engravings. The watch will fit an approximate 7” wrist.
Dial: As much as Royal Oaks can be about the case, the dial steals the show for me on this reference. I love the bright, crisp white petite tapisserie dial. It works so well and presents such a different bright and airy take on the iconic design. The slightly sunken day and date rings feature a restrained brushed metallic finish that adds some interest and dimension and provides a nice framing of the oh so satisfying heat blued hands for the day and date indications. Easy to overlook, I also particularly love the subtle polished pinball like markers and 3, 6, and 9. The tritium lume is even across the dial and hands and consistent in reaction and immediate drop off when exposed to UV.
Movement: The JLC derived caliber 2124/2825 automatic winding movement is winding, setting, and running smoothly, averaging +2 s/d across 6 positions.
Includes: Outer leather box with signed inner pillow, two AP service boxes.
Only 3,131 Day Date Moon Phase 25594’s were produced in stainless steel between it’s 1984 launch and it’s 2006 sunset, yet it is the only model in the Royal Oak family to remain in the catalog for more than 20 years.
