The Breguet Classique 7147 with Grand feu enamel dial is, quite possibly, one of the most objectively beautiful modern watches, and almost certainly so from Montres Breguet modern production. It’s almost wild how classically, distinctly, and traditionally “Breguet” this watch is with the distinct Classique case shape, Breguet Pomme hands (deep blued of course), hand painted fleur de lys hour markers and whimsical minute track, and, of course, Breguet Arabic numerals; it’s a sort of classism meets romanticism and whimsy that attracts so many to the storied brand (that’s often missing those characteristics in modern production).Only its 40 mm diameter and ultra-thin, offset rotor automatic movement with ant-magnetic silicon balance spring remind you this is the Classique for the modern era.

As much as I love guilloche, and Breguet guilloche dials in particular, the “Emaille Grand Feu” has a depth, richness, and idyllic, head-in-the-clouds feeling to it that I can really only describe as romantic, it gives you the warm and fuzzies for sure. As per usual, Breguet provides a masterclass in negative space; in what should feel like a sparse, overly white dial, is a perfect backdrop to the rich blued hands and impressive, subtly stepped subsidiary seconds dial, showcasing the dial as a single piece with the fine transition.

Case: The 40 x 47.7 x 6.5 mm 18K rose gold case is in excellent condition throughout exhibiting only very minor surface swirls as pictured. The case is unpolished with all hallmarks crisply intact.

Dial: The “Grand Feu” enamel dial is a single piece with rich enamel finishing the entirety, including the subtle transition to the slightly sunken running second’s hand. The Arabic Breguet numerals and hour and minute markers are hand applied in subtly raised black enamel adding further contrast and richness. The dial and Breguet hands are free from any imperfections.

Movement: The Caliber 502.3 SD is a hand decorated, ultra-thin, off-center rotor automatic winding movement with a 45-hour power reserve and thickness of just 2.4 mm. It is winding, setting, and running smoothly at approximately +1 s/d, averaged across 6 positions.

Strap: The watch is presented on a factory short length brown alligator strap with matching rose gold pin buckle. An additional greenish-taupe standard-length strap is also included, in very good condition.
