Cartier CPCP Tank A Vis Dual Time Ref 2552 Box & Papers
The Collection Privee Cartier Paris or CPCP collection might be my favorite era of Cartier as it revived some of the most iconic and unique designs in tasteful recreations directly appealing to discerning collectors through high quality watchmaking, tasteful (thin) proportions, “Paris” signed and hand-turned guilloche dials. This is, perhaps, no better illustrated than through the Tank A Vis, which was inspired by the maison’s first attempts at creating a waterproof watch via the Tank Etanche in 1931, which elegantly features four screws at the vertices, to originally sandwich a gasket in the case construction to increase water resistance.
The present example is cased in white gold and combines the robust, purpose-built appearance of the visible case screws with elegant down-turned, high polish, chamfered lugs contrasted by the sporty horizontally brushed mid case and an impressive feat of running two time zones, on two different displays, from the same ultra thin movement. The proportions are sporty, elegant, and down right excellent, on a very special, and rare, Tank.

Case: The 28 × 40 x 8 solid white gold case is in excellent condition throughout, exhibiting only minor surface swirls on the polished surfaces, as photographed. The case appears to be unpolished with crisply defined finishing and hallmarks. The sapphire cabochon crown completes the package with elegance and interest.
Dial: The 18-carat white gold dial features the CPCP signature rose motif hand-turned guilloche pattern originating at both hand stacks. The slightly raised painted Roman numerals add additional texture and depth with details such as the secret signature and the Paris signed dial. The heat blued hands provide a lovely contrast to the flawless dial.
Movement: The manually wound caliber 9901MC is a Piaget derived ultra-thin caliber that is winding, setting, and running well at approximately +12 s/d, averaged across 6 positions.
Strap: The watch is presented on a green Cartier signed alligator strap measuring 115 × 75, attached to its original white gold deployant in equally excellent condition with perfect hallmarks.
Includes: The original red CPCP presentation box, document holder, guarantee booklet, that is undated, and product line booklet are included.
