Gerald Genta retailed by Fred Perpetual Calendar Ref. G1840.4
If you are looking for a serious horological complication with serious pedigree and style consider this Gerald Genta ref. G1840.4 perpetual calendar in a 34.5mm 18k yellow gold lugless case which wears exceptionally well. The movement is an automatic, perpetual calendar based off a F. Piguet cal. 71 movement with a module added for the complication. The watch dates to approx. 1985 and features an opaline dial with applied gold numerals and a stunning lapis lazuli moonphase.
What makes this watch really special is the fact that is completely devoid of Gerald Genta branding and instead is signed "Fred" both on the dial and on the caseback. The case is full and the hallmarks are sharp. The Fred brand refers to a Parisian jeweler founded in 1936 which was bought out by LVMH in 1995. It was at one time a supplier to the royal family of Monaco.
