Tag Heuer Carrera 1964 Re-Issue CS3111
Tag Heuer Carrera 1964 Re-Issue CS3111
The Heuer Carrera was my first love in watches, it perfectly melds case and dial design, restraint, legibility, and negative space to create one of the most timeless chronograph designs, period. With the 1964 re-issue line you get the same 36 mm steel case proportions with distinct angular lugs, acrylic crystal, tritium lume and patina, and even a cool manually wound movement in the Lemania 1873 (the same movement used in the cal. 861 Omega Speedmasters), and overall dial layout, just without the “Carrera” text, at a significantly lower price. After spending time with both the silver and black dial re-issues, it’s pretty hard to justify paying 2-3x for a vintage Carrera when this gives you the same wearing experience and enjoyment. Luckily, these have hardly moved in price in the last 10 years and remains one of the best values in vintage and neo-vintage chronographs and one of the best values for a watch under $5K period, it’s all there!

Case: The 36 x 44 x 12.5 mm stainless steel case appears to be unpolished and wears very sharp and clean on wrist. A few small scratches are present on the lugs and case that are not noticeable on wrist but can be viewed in the case profile photos provided.
Dial: The matte black dial is free of defects and presents a vibrant tritium patina on the both the dial and hands with all lume plots present and uniform.
Movement: The Lemania 1873 caliber is the same manually wound base as used in the caliber 861 Omega Speedmasters, so servicing, parts, and reliability are outstanding. The watch is winding, setting, and running well, keeping time at approximately + 11 s/d, averaged across 6 positions. I did note time keeping was even better when worn.
Strap: The watch is presented on a ZRC grained black leather strap in very good condition, measuring 115 x 80 and includes the Heuer Signed buckle as original.
Includes: watch only
