Details, and details not just for the sake of details, detail done to right, to create interest, display craftsmanship, refinement, interest, and elegance. This vintage Longines Conquest Power Reserve has that at every angle throughout and I’m absolutely obsessed with this watch because of those details. The long, thin, but prominent lugs are super sharp with excellently designed facets and bevels, those hands, those skyscraper hands, the perfectly patinated lume, the hour indices and recessed steel track they sit on, the perfectly serifed fonts, a killer caseback medallion, and one hell of a cool complication… this is what they took from us!

Case: The 35 x 43 x 11 mm stainless steel case is in excellent condition throughout and appears to be unpolished with chamfered and faceted lugs to die for. With a long, thin profile reminiscent of the Longines Legend Diver, but in a more management, and excellently wearing 43 mm lug to lug, they perfectly straddle sporty and elegant and are likely the unsung hero of the watch since there are so many other cool details.

Dial: The silver dial is radially brushed and presents a warm even tone and is remarkably clean given the age. Such a great dial layout too, applied logo, date at 12 with internal cyclops magnifier, art deco applied hour indices and a recessed steel track to tie it all together, a shade of patina vintage nerds die for, quite possibly the coolest hands, period, and a perfectly serifed font that’s so neat and crisp, elegant, and bold, sporty, and refined.

Movement: The in-house caliber 294 is an automatic winding movement with 45 hour power reserve. The watch is winding, setting, and running well at approximately + 0.3 s/d, averaged across 6 positions. Truly remarkable stuff!

Strap: The watch is presented on worn twice by me brown leather strap that is 110 x 67 in length with a generic steel buckle.
